Andrea Pope, Ph.D.

Learning strategist with the heart of an educator, mind of a researcher, experience of an assessment consultant, and skills of an instructional designer.

Instructional Designer

I build learning solutions for adult learners in the classroom and the workplace—interventions that are supported by evidence and designed to maximize the transfer of learning.

Since 2016, I have designed learning solutions of all types and sizes for higher education clients—from online training portals and hands-on workshops to strategic messaging campaigns and multi-year organizational change initiatives. I now use these skills to support adult learners in a variety of contexts, including education, business, healthcare, and non-profit.

Assessment Consultant

I help organizations use assessment data to evaluate the effectiveness of learning solutions, drive organizational change, and foster continuous improvement.

I received my doctorate from James Madison University (a leader in learning outcomes assessment) where I studied how to measure and improve learning. Today, I use that training to help clients define outcomes that are meaningful and measurable, employ trustworthy assessment methods and tools, generate actionable insights from assessment data, and use assessment data to improve outcomes.

Education Researcher

I keep up-to-date on emerging research, translate research insights into practical learning solutions, and test the effectiveness of research-based strategies in local contexts.

As an applied researcher, I have extensive experience identifying the real problems organizations face and working collaboratively with stakeholders to build evidence-informed solutions that take into account organizational culture and context. I use my applied research skills daily to ask the right questions, mobilize the right people, and address hidden barriers to change.

Educator/Facilitator

I provide instruction that hooks learners emotionally, engages them intellectually, strengthens their metacognitive skills, and inspires self-directed learning.

Over the last decade, my skills as an educator and facilitator have been widely recognized through teaching awards, training evaluations, and invitations to work with learners nationwide. Whether for large groups or small teams, I deliver instruction that is aligned to learning goals and responsive to learners’ needs while motivating and equipping learners to take ownership of their own learning.
